Monday 7th September - Fifty-seven seniors from Highworth set off on a delightful day out to Weston-super-Mare, organised by Highworth and District Lions Club. Despite an overcast start, the weather stayed warm and dry — perfect conditions for walking.

The group began their visit with a stroll along the seafront promenade and a trip to the iconic Grand Pier, where one cheeky seagull stole an ice cream — much to everyone’s amusement — before flying off! Most of the party then enjoyed a fabulous traditional fish and chip lunch at Pappa’s, before finishing the afternoon with coffee at REVO’s on the beach.

On the return journey, the coach became a place of fun too: everyone received a raffle ticket, with no fewer than 45 prizes up for grabs. The draw took place on board while teas, coffees and hot chocolates were passed around.

By 6:30 pm, everyone was back safely in Highworth.

All in all, it was a brilliant day and fun for everyone, it was wonderful to see so many enjoying a well earned outing together.
